Job Description: The Automation Engineer will oversee the implementation of IIoT and MES systems at our Clients manufacturing facility, with a focus on PLC, networking, and systems integration.
This individual will be pivotal in designing and implementing cutting-edge solutions to enhance production efficiency and ensure secure, reliable operations.
Responsibilities:
PLC & Control Systems
- Modify PLC S7-300 & S7-400 logic and work with other controllers like Allen Bradley and B&R.
- Program and test automated machinery using Simatic Step7 and TIA portal.
- Ensure full integration of PLC programs and design of HMI panels for machine requirements and complete industrial communication networks.
Networking & Communication
- Handle industrial networks including field bus networks (ProfiNet, DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP) and serial communications (RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, Profibus) between PLCs and instruments.
- Oversee Ethernet communications between machine PLCs and OT/IT systems.
- Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure including wireless access points, firewalls, routers, switches, and controllers.
- Design and create detailed network diagrams and documents for communication systems planning.
Project Management & Documentation
- Study new project requirements, prepare detailed electrical engineering drawings of systems and components, and compile circuit manuals including overviews and bill of materials.
- Perform tasks such as equipment selection, schematic design, system layout, cost estimation, and system documentation.
- Follow up on installation works onsite, including cable trays laying, cables laying, and cable terminations.
Software & Cloud Integration
- Programming experience with at least one language (NodeJS, C#, JavaScript, etc.).
- Cloud networking, networking automation, and network security.
Innovative Problem Solving
- Think critically to devise solutions to challenges.
- Provide detailed specifications for hardware and application selection.
- Maintain knowledge of transport systems and network infrastructure standards.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven hands-on experience with PLCs, especially S7-300 & S7-400. Familiarity with Allen Bradley and B&R is advantageous.
- Proficiency in industrial networks and serial communication protocols.
- Knowledge of Simatic Step7 and TIA portal.
- Programming skills in languages like NodeJS, C#, or JavaScript.
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure tools and protocols.
- Ability to create and interpret electrical engineering drawings and documentation.
- Experience in cloud networking, networking automation, and network security.
