Job Description

The Head of Data Center is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and operation
of a company’s data center. The specific responsibilities of a Head of Data Center can vary
depending on the size and structure of the organization, but generally include:

  1. Setting the strategy and vision for the data center, aligning it with the company’s overall
    goals and objectives.
  2. Overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of the data center
    infrastructure, including hardware, software, and network systems.
  3. Ensuring the availability and reliability of the data center, including implementing disaster
    recovery and business continuity plans.
  4. Managing the day-to-day operations of the data center, including monitoring systems,
    responding to issues, and ensuring that all systems are operating at optimal levels.
  5. Developing and maintaining documentation for all data center systems and processes,
    including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
  6. Ensuring the security and integrity of the data center and its systems and data, including
    implementing security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and
    backup procedures.
  7. Managing vendor relationships and negotiating contracts for hardware, software, and
    services.
  8. Providing technical guidance and support to other members of the IT and security teams
    and working with other departments to ensure that the data center is meeting their
    needs.
  9. Staying current with industry developments and new technologies and making
    recommendations for upgrades and improvements to the data center as needed.
  10. Conducting risk assessments and implementing security measures to protect the
    company’s data and infrastructure.
  11. Participating in disaster recovery and business continuity planning and testing to ensure
    the availability and reliability of the data center.
  12. Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues with hardware, software, and network
    systems within the data center.
  13. Ensuring that all data center systems comply with industry standards and regulations,
    such as HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and SOC.
  14. Leading and managing a team of data center engineers, providing guidance, mentorship,
    and coaching to ensure that the team has the necessary skills and knowledge to support
    the data center infrastructure.
  15. Providing regular reporting and updates on the status and performance of the data center
    to senior management and stakeholders.
